Citi Learning and Development works to drive business performance by connecting employees with relevant and innovative learning experiences when and where they need them. The Digital Learning team is part of Citi Learning and is responsible for setting the direction, driving innovation and selecting appropriate Digital Learning Technologies and methodologies to improve performance and learning for Citi Globally. The Head of Digital Learning for Citi Learning will lead a team to execute on the global Digital Learning strategy, providing leadership and advocacy for the effective use of new and innovative learning technologies at Citi. The role will lead change from a user/learner perspective, providing an integrated/contextual employee experience across Citi in order to dramatically drive better business and performance outcomes.

This role will report to the Global Head of Digital Learning & Talent Technology within Citi’s Human Resources organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Influence and execute the global Digital Learning vision and strategy for Citi Learning

  • Manage and develop Citi Digital Learning Project Managers/Advisors including establishing career development paths, knowledge transfer and succession planning

  • Discussions with Citi Learning Advisors and functional stakeholders to shape Digital Learning solutions that meet learner experience, business outcome, and performance improvement goals

  • Guide and successfully articulate a “Drive to Quality, Common, and Greater Effectiveness” via partnerships with Operations and Technology, HR and all other internal stakeholders

  • Research external best practice and benchmark other leading organizations to make strategic Digital Learning recommendations to Functional and HR leadership to enhance organizational learning and performance

  • Partner with Technology & HR Shared Services (HRSS) leadership to align on Digital Learning vision and strategy, and to ensure proper support is provided in as applicable

  • Develop, manage and execute the strategic and operational direction of Digital Learning, highlighting online, adaptive, mobile, virtual, social and collaborative technologies

  • In partnership with Citi Technology and Procurement Functions, lead vendor selection and management for Digital Learning vendors, content libraries and learning technology

  • Implement key KPIs that help drive quality and effectiveness in learning, measure and monitor usage and support continuous improvement

  • Evaluate learning technologies and adaptive authoring tools to support the development of e-learning content, and lead initiative to consolidate the variety of tools currently used

  • Partner with Learning Advisors to achieve best-in-class delivery modality mix of ILT, VILT & e-learning

  • Counsel and advise Citi Learning and HR leaders on emerging capabilities and/or innovative technical solutions regarding new or creative solutions and applications to consider

  • Work directly with stakeholders at different levels of the organization to analyze and prioritize Digital Learning needs

  • Lead the implementation of a global adaptive learning platform and establish data-driven success criteria


  • 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, curating and administering Digital Learning

  • Ability to lead a team of professionals with experience in the HR technologies space

  • Track record of successfully leading large scale transformational change and virtual teams in a complex, multi-national matrixed environment. Includes program management, business needs analysis, requirements documentation, change management and systems implementation.

  • Demonstrated leadership capacity and experience building relationships across the organization

  • Transformation leadership skills required including strong vision and influencing skills in a multi-national and cross-cultural work environment.

  • Track record of thought leadership in Digital Learning with an ability to influence globally and across organizations

  • Experience researching and implementing new Digital Learning methods that leverage cutting edge technology

  • Experience in evaluating learning software and making recommendations for purchase across a multitude of learning contexts: hybrid training models, eLearning, mobile, virtual, collaborate and social learning contexts

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, including strong persuasion, negotiation and influencing skills.
